Edward Gunther
Edward Gunther, 91, of Basking Ridge died Oct. 12, 2012. Born in Brookline, Mass., he was a resident of Convent Station for 43 years and Basking Ridge since 2005.
Mr. Gunther was an executive in marketing and new product development for 25 years with Vick Chemical, Lever Brothers, and Warner Lambert. He then turned his marketing skills and love of horses into a new career as a vice president at Beval Saddlery and then Miller Harness Co., receiving recognition from the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association.
He was a graduate of Clark University, Worcester, Mass., majoring in chemistry and physics.
After graduating college he entered the U.S. Navy, serving on active duty in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters on a mine sweeper and on an attack cargo ship. He retired as a lieutenant.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Corinne; his daughter, Stephanie Shnay; and two grandchildren.
