Edward Appel

Edward R. Appel, 82, of South Orange died July 27, 2012. He was born in Boston.

For 27 years Mr. Appel and his wife Sheila owned and operated Mail Diary Panel, a marketing research company in Cranford.

He received a BA from Boston University and an MBA from Columbia University.

He was a former senior lieutenant in the Navy.

As a longtime member of Oheb Shalom Congregation, South Orange, he chaired an award-winning adult education committee, served on the board of trustees, and was president of the Hebrew Free Loan. He was a founding member of the Society of Musical Arts.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Nancy Rosenfield of Short Hills and Susan Solomon of Randolph; a sister, Hilda Volkin of Albuquerque, NM; and three grandchildren.
