Edward Abrams
Edward Abrams, 89, of Monroe Township died April 22, 2017. Born in Plainfield, he resided there for many years before moving to North Plainfield and then Monroe after his retirement in 1988.
Mr. Abrams worked as a salesman for Macy’s in Plainfield for 25 years.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II and was charged at its conclusion. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 228 in Springfield and the Korean War Veterans Post 148 of Central NJ.
At his residence at Rossmoor in Monroe, he was active in many clubs and organizations, including the Barber Shop Chorus and the Senior Olympics.
Predeceased by his wife, Thalia, in 2002, he is survived by two sons, Steven (Jeanne) of Surf City and Jeff (Donna) of Long Hill Township; a sister, Beatrice Murawa of Brooklyn; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held April 24 with arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
