Earl Korbman

Earl Harry Korbman, 92, of Edison died Jan. 8, 2019. Born in Newark, he lived in Newark, Irvington, and Fords before moving to Edison four years ago.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Korbman was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years at the United States Post Office in Newark.

He was an Army veteran in World War II and attained the rank of sergeant. During the war he was a radio operator and Marine engineer and served with the 368th Harbor Craft Company in the Philippines for 14 months.

He was a former member of Congregation Beth Mordechai in Perth Amboy and a member of Neve Shalom in Metuchen.

Predeceased by his wife, Shirley, in 2015, he is survived by two daughters, Florine Y. (Michael) Kaplan of Edison and Judith S. (Richard) Seidman of Budd Lake; and three grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 9 with arrangements by Louis Suburban Chapel, Fair Lawn. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association or Jewish War Veterans.
