Doughnuts for soldiers
JACK AND SHEILA Usdin of Maplewood sent hundreds of doughnuts to soldiers in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The Usdins participate in the FIDF Adopt-A-Battalion Program.
“We are proud and humbled to be able to show the soldiers of the IDF our care and appreciation,” said Jack. “Especially during Chanukah, as we remember the Maccabees and how they fought against all odds to preserve Israel, we are spreading love and light to our modern-day miracles, the defenders of Israel, the soldiers of the IDF.”
Through the FIDF’s Adopt-A-Battalion Program supporters provide financial assistance to soldiers in need, care for lone soldiers with no immediate family in Israel, and fund rest and recuperation weeks for combat units.
In 2017, FIDF supporters aided soldiers from nine brigades and 69 battalions, squadrons, and flotillas. Visit fidf.org.
