Doris Lillian Stecklow (Truffelman), 86, of West Orange died April 9, 2015. She grew up in Brooklyn.
A longtime teacher in the West Orange public school district, Mrs. Stecklow taught for 27 years at Eagle Rock and Redwood elementary schools and at Roosevelt Junior High School. She retired in 1995.
She attended Brooklyn College and later graduated from NJ State Teachers College (now Kean University) in 1968.
She was active in Jewish causes and was a volunteer for USC Shoah Foundation, which documents survivors and witnesses of the Holocaust.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Nathaniel; her son, Steve; her daughter, Stacey Rauch; and three grandsons.
Private services were held with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to USC Shoah Foundation or National Council of Jewish Women.
