Doree Denburg Stark

Doree Denburg Stark, 80, of Brick died April 20, 2012. Born and raised in Newark, she lived in Hillside and Elizabeth before moving to Brick 10 years ago.

Mrs. Stark graduated in 1952 from New Jersey State Teachers College, now known as Kean University. She was an active member of Kean’s Alumni Association Board since 1980, where she played an integral part in organizing their “50 Plus” reunions.

She was a past president and life member of B’nai B’rith Women and a member of Hadassah, Jewish War Veterans’ Women’s Auxiliary Post 178, and Temple Beth Or, Brick.

She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Kenneth Stark; her son, Kenneth Shapiro of Toms River; her daughter, Karen Shapiro Locke of Enfield, Conn.; two brothers, Leslie Denburg of Rockville, Md., and Marvin Denburg of Coralville, Iowa; and five grandchildren.

Services were held April 22 with arrangements by Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood. Memorial contributions may be made to the Doree Stark Scholarship Fund, payable to Kean University Foundation, 1000 Morris Ave., Union, NJ 07083; or Hadassah, c/o Mollie Shapiro, 18 Higgins Ct., Brick, NJ 08724.
