Diane Singleton
Diane Danziger Singleton, 85, of Westfield died April 1, 2017. Born and raised in Brooklyn, she lived in Westfield for nearly 50 years. She also had lived in Elizabeth, Argentina, and Brazil.
Mrs. Singleton worked as a special education teacher in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Public Schools from 1973 to 1987, and as a teacher of basic skills to adults at the Manhattan Reading Institute from 1987 to 1999.
She received a bachelor of arts from Cornell University and a master of arts in education from Kean University.
After retiring, she volunteered with the Union County Municipal Court Volunteer Mediation Program and served as a board member of Friends of the Westfield Memorial Library. She was also active in local book and play-reading groups.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bert, and two daughters, Judy of Rocky Hill and Ruth (Jay Korman) of New York City.
Services were held April 5 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
