Speaking before the recent ZOA convention, Steve Bannon declared himself a Christian Zionist and drew a standing ovation (“Bannon crosses up Klein with ‘political speech,’” Nov. 16). I wonder if those standing thought about what a Christian Zionist believes.
Does he believe in a permanent Jewish homeland or a temporary one until the second coming? According to Christian prophecies, sometime in the future Jesus will descend from the heavens. At that time Jews, living in the Holy Land will be given the choice to convert or die and face an afterlife in purgatory.
It seems it would be a fair question to ask Bannon what he means when he says he is a Christian Zionist before standing and cheering.
