Day school to start program promoting social, emotional wellness
GOTTESMAN RTW ACADEMY, in Randolph, using a $128,729 grant from the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey, will launch an initiative to foster the social and emotional wellness of the Jewish day school’s community.
Dr. Cheryl Bahar will oversee the program, which will aim to provide students, families, teachers, and staff with emotional health support while assessing the needs of the community at large. Nurse Phyllis Vida will remain a support system in the school, and two social workers, overseen by Jewish Family Service of MetroWest NJ, will be added to the staff.
Among the services to be provided by the grant are mental health programming for students and families facilitated by field specialists, professional development opportunities for staff members, and assessment tools and early intervention screenings.
