David Weinstein

David Jay Weinstein, 62, of Livingston died July 9, 2016. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Queens, Long Island, and North Plainfield before moving to Livingston in 1984. 

Mr. Weinstein had worked as an engineer at first and then later entered the investment world, working for the World Financial Group in Fairfield for the past 10 years. He retired earlier this year.

He attended Brooklyn Polytech for one year and then State University of New York in Stony Brook, where he earned a BS and an MS in metallurgical engineering.

He was a member of the Folk Music Society of NJ, first in Roseland and later in Livingston. He was a Democratic Party Committeeman in Livingston for over 25 years and was still serving at the time of his death. For over a decade, he coached in the Livingston Soccer League. 

He was an active member of Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston for many years, chairing its nursery school board and working on its soup kitchen. More recently, he was a member of Chavurat Lamdeinu in Summit.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie (Ashendorf); two sons, Eliot (Amy) of Virginia Beach, Va., and Ari of Santa Monica, Calif.; a sister, Eileen Weinstein-Levy of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and a grandson.

Arrangements were handled by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Chatham; memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Caring Voice Coalition.
