David Horwitz

David Horwitz, 88, of Cedar Knolls died Sept. 23, 2015. He was formerly of Hillside.

Mr. Horwitz, who was the subject of a New Jersey Jewish News article in 2006 for being the oldest Fairleigh Dickinson University graduate at the time, retired after 24 years in office furniture sales with Max Blau in 1998. Prior to that, he owned three Castro Convertible stores in Union, Newark, and Morristown.

His educational career was interrupted early on when he joined the Army. After his tour, he returned to NJIT to work on his degree, finally completing his college education at FDU in 2006.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; two sons, Ken (Sheri) of Randolph and Alan (Barbara) of Montclair; his daughter, Ellen Rose of Millburn; and five grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 25 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Maplewood.
