Daniel Tobias Gold
Daniel Tobias Gold, 57, of West Chester, Pa., died Nov. 10, 2010. He was born in Jersey City and grew up in Lakewood.
Dr. Gold began his dental career as an officer in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps in Clayton, Okla. He worked in Denver; Exton, Pa.; and Vineland before opening his own practice in Media, Pa., in 1991.
He was valedictorian of Lakewood High School’s class of 1971 and earned degrees from Oberlin College and Georgetown University School of Dentistry.
After his illness forced him to retire in 2005, he became involved in many volunteer capacities. He was active in the brotherhood of Temple Sholom, Broomall, Pa., as a gardener of native plants at the Brandywine Museum, and as a medical appointments driver for the VA.
Predeceased by his brother Joey, he is survived by his wife, Susan Elizabeth Manz, whom he married in 1981, his son, Jacob; his daughter, Hannah; his mother, Charlotte; his father, Michael; and his brother, Steven of Ocean Township.
Services were held Nov. 14 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean. Memorial contributions may be made for either lymphoma research or the Integrative Medicine Program (music therapy) at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York.
