Community Update & Storm Assistance Information

Dear Friends,

We hope that you and your families are safe as we begin to confront the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. We mourn the loss of life and our hearts go out to those who are affected by the aftermath. We are very concerned for the welfare of our community members, neighbors, and businesses adversely affected by the storm which caused such vast damage throughout the Tri-State area.

We want to share information and updates to the Greater MetroWest community and provide emergency contact information to help you through this very difficult time. Though the Federation and many of our partner agencies have been without power since Monday, we want to offer ways to access help or emergency assistance if needed.

Due to the storm, the Federation phone lines are not working. Effective Monday morning, the Federation temporary phone number is (973) 585-9222 and will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday until normal phone service is restored.

The YM-YWHA of Union and JCC MetroWest are now open. The JCC of Central is still without power. You can reach the JCC MetroWest at www.jccmetrowest.org or (973) 530-3400 and the Union Y at www.uniony.org  or (908) 289-8112.

We're also relieved to report that our senior and other vulnerable populations at Daughters of Israel, Jewish Community Housing Corporation, JESPY House, and JSDD are all safe and managing under these difficult circumstances. We thank everyone for their extraordinary efforts in this endeavor.

Our Jewish Family Service of Central and Jewish Family Service of MetroWest have set-up phone lines to assist you with any crisis. Below is a list of resources should you need any emergency help.

An emergency mailbox has been opened, the Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund. Funds raised will be used to provide aid to our agencies to assist the community and others impacted by this disaster, including the frail and isolated.

Working together we will recover, rebuild, and heal from this devastating storm. Together we will strengthen the Greater MetroWest Community.
