Claire Lafer (Shane), 97, of Pompton Plains died June 9, 2018. She was born in Newark, six weeks after her parents arrived in the United States from Russia.
During World War II, she worked in the Signal Corps, where she met Capt. Louis Lafer; they were married in 1944.
An avid golfer, Mrs. Lafer became a member of the Hole-in-One Club, having achieved a perfect shot in 1988 at Palm Beach National.
Predeceased by her husband of 53 years in 1997, and a twin sister, Adele, she is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Stephen) Greenberg; two sons, Barry (Jill) and Alan (Susan); seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services were held with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
