Charlotte Applegate
Charlotte Mina George Applegate, 86, of South Orange died Nov. 13, 2011. Born in Newark, she resided in South Orange since 1955.
Mrs. Applegate was employed in the Essex County area as a medical technologist. In addition, she was co-owner with her late husband, Edward Albert Applegate, of the Applegate Real Estate Insurance Agency in South Orange for 45 years, retiring 15 years ago. From 1987 to 2003, she and her husband also owned Ko-Shing Chinese Restaurant, West Caldwell.
She received a certificate in medical technology from Manhattan College.
Cofounder of the national “Mothers of Twins Club” organization, she was a Cub Scouts den mother in South Orange. She and her husband also served as board members of the New Jersey Opera and Symphony in Newark.
Predeceased by her husband, she is survived by two sons, Steven Kenneth and Gerald Brian; four grandchildren; and two nieces, Dori Feldman and Lori Ball.
Services were held Nov. 15 with arrangements by LaMonica Memorial Home, Livingston.
