Charles Lenchitz
Charles Lenchitz, 95, of Rockaway died Feb. 6, 2014. He was born in Brooklyn.
Mr. Lenchitz was retired as a chemist for the U.S. government, working at Picatinny Arsenal.
He served in the European Theater during World War II, attaining the rank of Army Captain.
He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Jewish War Veterans and was a life member of Hadassah. He was a former member of the board of trustees and men’s club of White Meadow Temple, Rockaway, and the White Meadow Home Owner’s Association.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sylvia (Yaker); three sons, Harry (Zoe), Norman (Teresita), and Bernard (Marlene); his daughter, Barbara (Larry) Gottesman; a sister, Florence Glick; and five grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 9 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Dover. Memorial contributions may be made to Hadassah, 50 West 58th St., New York, NY 10019.
