AJC NEW JERSEY participated Dec. 9 in a Chanukah celebration at the Indian Consulate in New York City attended by more than 100 guests.

“It was a lovely evening filled with the warmth and traditions that the holiday season is known for,” said Rabbi David Levy, director of AJC New Jersey, which hosts a Hindu Jewish Coalition (HJC). AJC also has an Asia Pacific Institute.

Speakers at the Chanukah celebration included Consul General Sandeep Chakravorty, Israeli Deputy Consul General Israel Nitzan, Rep. Grace Meng (D-N.Y.), N.J. State Assembly Member Raj Mukherji (D-Dist. 33), Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, and Michael Feldstein of Princeton, co-chair with his wife Lori of HJC.

The candle-lighting ceremony was followed by an Indian dance performance and a kosher, vegetarian dinner.
