Carol Stromeyer
Carol Raphael Stromeyer, 86, of Springfield died May 22, 2015. Born in Newark, she lived in Springfield for the past 63 years.
Prior to retiring in 1982, Mrs. Stromeyer was a Hebrew school teacher at Temple Emanu-El, Westfield, where she worked for over 30 years.
She received her bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University, Phi Beta Kappa, in 1975, at the same time as her late son Robert. She and her son were profiled in the New York Daily News as a mother/son graduate team.
She was past president of the Suburban Essex chapter of Deborah.
Predeceased by her son, she is survived by her husband of 67 years, Norman; two sons, William of Springfield and David (Patricia) of Monroe Township; two sisters, Beth Kaplan and Vivienne Cohen; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held May 26 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan.
