Carol Starr (Schustrin), 92, of Upper Montclair died May 17, 2017. Born in New York City, she lived in Jersey City through 1953, when she moved to Montclair.
She earned a B.A. from New York University and a teaching degree from Montclair State Teachers College.
She was a member of Congregation Shomrei Emunah in Montclair for 64 years.
She volunteered at Mountainside Hospital for decades and was a Red Cross volunteer.
Predeceased by her husband, Harry, she is survived by five sons, Michael (Ellen) of New York City, Philip of New Orleans, Richard (Pat) of New York City, David (Julie) of Florence, Mass., and Gregory (Tami) of Boca Raton, Fla.; two sisters, Rita Brody of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Libby Shapiro of Aventura, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
Services were held May 21 with arrangements by Jewish Memorial Chapel, Clifton.
