Carl S. Clawans, 87, of Delray Beach, Fla., died Oct. 28, 2017. He was born in Newark and later lived in North Brunswick before moving to Del-ray Beach in 1993.
A pharmacist, Mr. Clawans operated Hamilton Drugs in Franklin Township. He later worked as a pharmaceutical research scientist at Schering Plough before retiring in 1993.
He graduated from Weequahic High School, Newark, and Rutgers University School of Pharmacy.
He served in the U.S. Army’s Medical Corps in Germany.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Muriel (Trager); two sons, Wayne and Lee (Christine); and a granddaughter.
Services were held Oct. 31 with arrangements by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to a cancer organization of one’s choice.
