Calvin Leichtling
Calvin Leichtling, 90, of Scotch Plains and Delray Beach, Fla., died March 27, 2012. Born and raised in Newark, he formerly resided in Linden.
Mr. Leichtling worked as a certified life underwriter (CLU) for 25 years with The Equitable, and held a life insurance license.
He was a member of the class of 1939 at Weequahic High School, Newark.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the China, Burma, and India Theater and participating in the building of the Burma Road.
He served as a neighborhood watch volunteer at the Lakes of Delray.
Predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Pearl, he is survived by two sons, Mark and Gary; his daughter, Rita Loew; five grandchildren; and his caregiver, Evans Boamah.
