Burton Leder
Burton A. Leder, 84, of Holmdel died April 25, 2012. He was born in Bayonne and lived there before moving to Monmouth County over 55 years ago and Holmdel 48 years ago.
Mr. Leder was the director of Pupil Personnel Services for the Fair Haven Board of Education for over 26 years before retiring in 1989.
He attended Trenton State Teachers College. He earned a master’s degree in education from Seton Hall University and was among the first to specialize/concentrate in learning disabilities. He also held 30+ credits toward his doctorate in education at Temple University.
He was a former president of the Learning Disabilities Specialist Association.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sheila; two sons, Jeff of Freehold and Scott of Manalapan; his daughter, Merrille of Holmdel; a sister, Jocelyn Levy of Delray Beach, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
Private services were held April 27 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean. Memorial contributions may be made to Birthright Israel.
