Burnice Siegel
Burnice Siegel (Sadowitz), 94, of Roselle died April 26, 2018.
Mrs. Siegel worked as a bookkeeper, secretary, and office manager for Hilton Manufacturing Co. in Linden, Arthur Dress Co., and Town Cleaners Inc. in Roselle.
She graduated from Linden public schools, and attended Union County College, where she studied accounting.
During World War II she received training as a nurse’s aide, helping the wounded at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and Elizabeth General Hospital.
She was a life member of Roselle-Cranford Hadassah, and had been a member of Temple Israel of Union, Temple Emanu-El of Roselle, Congregation Anshe Chesed of Linden, and Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael of Springfield before joining Temple Beth-El Mekor Chayim of Cranford. She was active in many areas of community service, including volunteering to give firsthand information on the Great Depression of 1929 to students at Abraham Clark High School in Roselle. She was also an active member and social secretary for Roselle Senior Citizens for many years, and contributed heavily to local charities and religious institutions.
Predeceased by her husband of more than 61 years, Robert I., she is survived by two daughters, Devora Siegel Schiff and Pamela Marcy Gentilcore; her son, Jordan Todd Siegel; and eight grandchildren.
Services were held April 27 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Funeral Home (McCracken), Union.
