Bramnick won’t run for U.S. Senate
Westfield Republican to stay as minority leader
State Assemblyman Jon Bramnick of Westfield quashed speculation that he would seek the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in 2014.
Bramnick, the Assembly minority leader, had been on a short list of state GOP leaders expected to challenge Sen. Cory Booker for the seat, which Booker won in a special election in November.
“After thoroughly considering the opportunity to run for United States Senate in 2014, I have decided to remain focused on my role as Assembly Republican Leader,” Bramnick said in a Jan. 17 statement. “I look forward to continuing to work with Governor Christie and the dedicated members of the Assembly Republican caucus to advocate for the hardworking taxpayers of our state.”
Bramnick is a member of Temple Emanu-El in Westfield.
