Beyond compare
New Jersey Jewish News is to be commended for featuring on its website Ron Prosser’s speech to the UN on the subject of Israel’s reaction to Hamas’s onslaught. What needs to be emphasized is that Israel is not reacting to a conventional political or economic opponent.
How many Americans are familiar with Hamas’s hateful covenant? Here follows a sampling of its verbiage:
- “Israel will exist & will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as others before it,” [Preamble]
- “The Day of Judgment will not come about until Moslems fight Jews & kill them.”
- “Peace initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions & international conferences are in contradiction to the principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement…There is no solution for the Palestinian problem except by Jihad. Initiatives, proposals & international conferences are but a waste of time, an exercise in futility.”
Can Obama explain how one is to negotiate with those who are bent on one’s destruction?
The depth of the cunning of the Palestinians is in describing the “minimal” loss of 67 Israeli lives versus the thousands of Palestinian fatalities. Apparently intent does not enter into the equation. How many Israeli lives would have been destroyed but for the effectiveness of the Iron Dome and the inaccuracy of the Hamas missiles? What sort of equation considers offense and defense as equals?
