Bette Rosen
Bette Anne Rosen (Gold), 86, of Boonton died Feb. 28, 2016. Born in Orange, she grew up in South Orange and lived in Livingston for over 40 years.
Mrs. Rosen was an English teacher at Webster Junior High School in Newark and then became a guidance counselor at both Webster Junior High and Newark East Side High School for over 30 years. After retiring, she was a substitute teacher in the Livingston school system.
She received her bachelor’s degree from Douglass College at Rutgers University and her master’s degree from Seton Hall University.
She was a member of Oheb Shalom Congregation in Newark and South Orange for over 40 years. She celebrated her bat mitzva there at a later age.
Predeceased by her husband, Leon, whom she married in 1950, she is survived by two daughters, Linda (Henry) Maurer and Robin (David) Soll; her son, Henry (Debra); five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 1 with arrangements by Jewish Memorial Chapel, Clifton.
