Betsy Hermine Sternberg

Betsy Hermine Sternberg, 71, a longtime Montclair resident, died April 26, 2011. She was born in Newark. Ms. Sternberg had been an English teacher at Montclair High School from 1968 to 1970, and was a research assistant and teaching assistant. She held various administrative and secretarial positions throughout her life.

She attended Newark’s Weequahic High School in the late 1950s. She received her bachelor’s degree in English from New York University in the mid-1960s, and a master of arts in cognitive psychology from Rutgers Newark in the early 1970s.

She had studied flamenco in Mexico and Spain and mime in Paris, and had traveled in several countries.

She is survived by her son, William of Paris; her sister, Simone Sternberg of New York City; and two grandchildren.

Memorial services were held May 15 at Bnai Keshet, Montclair.
