Bernice A. Luxemburg

Bernice A. Luxemburg, 95, of Rockville, Md., died Feb. 28, 2017. She was born in Bayonne and lived in Millburn for almost 50 years before moving to Rockville four years ago.

Mrs. Luxemberg was a teacher for more than 25 years at various school systems in New Jersey, including at Wyoming Elementary School in Millburn.

She was an active life member of Hadassah. She was a longtime member of Congregation B’nai Israel, Millburn. She was an active community member and volunteer in the Millburn area as well as at Newark Museum. She was also involved with Women’s ORT.

Predeceased by her husband, Milton, in 1989, she is survived by four sons: Rabbi Jack (Barbara Etkind), Norman, Maury (Susan), and Richard (Shari Harris); seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held March 5 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Hadassah, Congregation B’nai Israel, or American Red Cross.
