Bernard Wechsler
Bernard Matthew Wechsler, 82, of Matawan died May 7, 2011. He was born and raised in the Bronx.
Dr. Wechsler attended the University of Missouri and then medical school in Switzerland. He did his internship and medical residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, and completed his cardiac fellowship at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn. He became director of the Department of Cardiology and Professor of Medicine at the Downstate Medical School of New York. After many years, he went into private practice in Brooklyn until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah; his stepson, Joseph, and stepdaughter, Teon; a brother, Dr. Harold Wechsler of Lakewood; and two nephews and a niece.
Services were held May 11 at Temple Beth Am Shalom, Lakewood, with arrangements by Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood.
