Benjamin Greenberg, 89, of Springfield died Feb. 5, 2013. Born in New York City, Mr. Greenberg had also resided in Brighton Beach, N.Y., and Maplewood before moving to Springfield 55 years ago.
He was employed by Aaron Lippman & Co., Newark, as a sales associate for over 30 years.
Mr. Greenberg served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was active in Disabled American Veterans.
He was a master gardener and member of the Springfield Garden Club.
He is survived by his wife Irene (Roth); his children, Susan Baril of Burlington, Mass., and Barry Greenberg of Bloomingdale; his sister, Esther Barnett of Pompton Plains; and four grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 6 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
