Belle Chmielnik

Belle Chmielnik (Nowomiejski), 84, of Fanwood died Jan. 24, 2011. Born in Poland, she was a Holocaust survivor. When she came to the United States, she settled first in New Orleans, and then resided in Newark, Hillside, and Hollywood, Fla., before moving to Mountain Lakes in 2006 and then Fanwood for the past year.

Mrs. Chmielnik was active in the Piotrkov Trybunalski Relief Association, Inc.

Predeceased by her husband, Morris, and daughter Ruth Chmielnik, she is survived by two daughters, Rosalie Reiser of Holland Township and Beverly Veech of Mountain Lakes; her son, Steven of Fanwood; a sister, Fela Mieri of Nahariya, Israel; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services were held Jan. 25 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
