Beatrice Epstein
Beatrice Epstein, 95, of Boynton Beach, Fla., died July 30, 2019. She grew up in the Bronx.
Mrs. Epstein graduated from nursing school and worked at Metropolitan Hospital in New York. She and her husband Sam purchased and operated an egg farm in Toms River in 1951 for over 35 years.
She was very involved with the Toms River Community of Jewish Farmers and along with her husband were among the founding families of Congregation B’nai Israel. She was president of the Ladies Auxiliary, helped start the Leonard Max Baer Day Camp, and raised funds for Deborah Hospital.
She enjoyed cooking and teaching her family to prepare traditional dishes such as gefilte fish, kishka, matzah balls, kreplach, latkes, and various desserts.
Predeceased in 1998 by her husband, Sam, whom she married in 1949, she is survived by two sons, Leonard (Sherry) of Boynton Beach and Larry (Helen-Ann) of East Windsor; a brother, Albert of Brooklyn; two sisters, Shirley Silverman of Monsey, N.Y., and Harriet Frankenberg of Toms River; and two granddaughters.
Services were held Aug. 2 with arrangements by Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood. Memorial contributions may be made to Deborah Hospital or Beth El Synagogue in East Windsor.
