Barney H. Cohn
Barney H. Cohn, 93, of Somerset died Dec. 30, 2010. He was born and raised in New Brunswick and lived in Elizabeth, Cranford, and Monmouth Junction before settling in Somerset in 2005.
Mr. Cohn, a certified public accountant, operated his own accounting firm in New Brunswick. He worked for many years before retiring.
He graduated from New Brunswick High School in 1935 and graduated in 1941 from Trenton State Teachers College. He graduated from New York University with a master’s of business administration in 1948.
In October 1941 he joined the U.S. Army and served as captain in the 94th Infantry Division during World War II.
He was a Master Mason and served as the Worshipful Master of Oriental Lodge #51. He was a vice president of Temple Beth-El of Cranford as well as the treasurer, men’s club president, and board of trustees member. He was also a member of Congregation B’nai Tikvah, North Brunswick.
Predeceased by his wife, Elaine (Cohen), in 1994, he is survived by his son, David; two daughters, Lori Safer and Bobbi Binder; and nine grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 2 at B’nai Tikvah with arrangements by Crabiel Home for Funerals, Milltown.
