Barbara Zarrow

Barbara Strassman Zarrow, 83, of Monroe Township died Oct. 23, 2013. Born in Elizabeth, she resided in Spring Valley, NY; Elmwood Park; Elizabeth; Glen Rock; and Manalapan before moving to Monroe in 1983.

Prior to retiring in 1992, Mrs. Zarrow worked for the Old Bridge Board of Education, where she taught English at Carl Sandburg Middle School for 16 years and at Cedar Ridge High School for seven years.

She received a BS in business at Rider University, Lawrence, and her teaching certificate at Kean College, Union.

She was a congregant of Temple Shaari Emeth in Manalapan and a member of the Concordia chapter of Brandeis University Women. She also served as a trustee at the Monroe Township Library for 18 years and was named trustee emeritus in 2007.

Predeceased by her husband, Frank T., and her daughter-in-law Golda, she is survived by three sons, Philip of Tennessee, Mitchell (Audrey) of Jackson, and Robert (Audrey) of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; a sister, Selma Troum of Long Boat Key, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 25 with arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick.
