Barbara Feldman

Barbara “Bonnie” Feldman (Finkelstein), 62, of Springfield died Nov. 24, 2013. Born in Brooklyn, she moved as a young child to Maplewood.

Mrs. Feldman began a career of over 20 years treating patients with aphasia and mild brain injuries, primarily at Morristown Memorial Rehabilitation Institute. As a speech pathologist, she was an active member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and certified CCC-SLP.

She attended Columbia High School and earned a bachelor of arts from Upsala College. She later completed a master of arts in speech pathology at Kean University.

She and her daughter Lisa participated in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in 2006. As part of the 2013 American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Bonnie was a featured speaker and ribbon cutter. She and her team of family and friends were active in Relay for Life for several years. She was also a member of Flo Okin Cancer Relief and Temple Emanu-El of Westfield and its sisterhood.

She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey; her son, Michael (fiancee Angela Yeh); her daughter, Lisa (Aaron) Afflitto; a sister, Rae Brounstein; and a grandson.

Services were held Nov. 25 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
