Axelrod Center continues as court weighs JCC plan
As the Axelrod Performing Arts Center continues to offer a series of concerts and performances, a bankruptcy court is weighing a reorganization plan by the JCC of Greater Monmouth in Deal, where the PAC is housed.
At an Aug. 6 hearing, JCC leadership presented the plan to the court, which also heard a move by TD Bank, which holds the mortgage, to change the status of the JCC to Chapter 7 and force liquidation.
As of press-time, it was unclear what the ruling of the court would be or what next steps are to be taken.
According to Keith Krivitzky, executive director of the Jewish Federation of Monmouth County, “We are prepared to be supportive of any viable efforts that keep the JCC facilities available for the benefit of the entire Jewish community. We will also continue to fund many of the individual programs that took place at the JCC.”
The JCC officially ceased all programming and shut most of its facilities in April. The Yeshiva of the Jersey Shore has moved to new facilities in the old Deal Yeshiva on Logan Road in Ocean.
