Arthur Shalit, 89, of Mountainside died June 3, 2014. He was born in Newark.
Mr. Shalit owned his own construction company and was a builder throughout New Jersey.
He graduated from Weequahic High School, Newark, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Brown University in Rhode Island.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre in World War II with a rank of lieutenant as commander of a Landing Ship, Tank.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Holly Frank; his children, Marc (Jean) of Fresno, Calif., Kevin (Kamela) of Clark, and Glenn (Valeria) of Bernardsville; a brother, Allen of Wayne; and three grandchildren.
Services were held June 6 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
