Arthur Perelman
Arthur J. Perelman, 87, of Summit died Sept. 23, 2015. Born in Newark, he lived there and in Union before moving to Summit in 1992.
A cardiologist, Dr. Perelman earned a BA from University of Pennsylvania and his MD from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, authoring 12 clinical journal articles during his training. He became chief resident in 1955 before opening an internal medicine practice in Union. He also was an assistant clinical professor at the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry.
Predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Charlotte E., he is survived by three sons, Jonathan of Chatham, Robert of Tarrytown, NY, and Carl of Randolph; a brother, Robert; and six grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 25 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to University of Vermont Cancer Center’s “Charlotte Fund” or “Arthur Jason Perelman, MD ‘52 Professorship” or Chabad of Southeast Morris County.
