Arthur Katz
Arthur S. Katz, 95, of West Orange died Dec. 12, 2013. He was born in Yonkers, NY, and settled in Hillside after his marriage in 1945 before moving to West Orange over 54 years ago.
Mr. Katz had his own architectural practice, first as Katz and Metsky, and then as Arthur S. Katz Assoc. for almost 60 years. During World War II, he worked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard designing ship’s quarters.
He earned his architectural degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1943.
He played tennis for many years, and a mandolin, and also enjoyed painting and traveling around the world.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley (Finkelstein); two sons, William and Lawrence (Diane Michael); three grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
Services were held Dec. 15 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Daughters of Israel, West Orange.
