Arnold Hammer
Arnold Hammer, 97, of Whippany died Sept. 9, 2011. Born in Piskabela, Czechoslovakia, he lived in Newark, Hillside, West Orange, Lakehurst, and Delray Beach, Fla., before moving to Whippany in 2005.
Mr. Hammer was the owner and operator of Green/Hammer Metal Products in Dover and Newark for over 40 years, retiring in 1984.
A veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, he was a member of the Jewish War Veterans Elin Unger Post 273 and Lakehurst Post 657.
He is survived by his wife, Emilie (Rapel); two sons, Irwin of Springfield and Lawrence of West Orange; two brothers, Otto and Rudi Hammer, both of West Orange; a sister, Stella Weis of Arizona; six grandchildren; and five great-grandsons.
Services were held Sept. 11 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to The Clinic for Special Children, Strasburg, Pa.
