Arnold Constad
Dr. Arnold Newman Constad, 99, of Monroe Township died Feb. 27, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, he resided in Fort Meyers, Fla.; Bushkill and Newfoundland, Pa., and Springfield before moving to Monroe 10 years ago.
Prior to retiring in 1990, Dr. Constad owned his own pediatrics practice in Union.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as captain from 1942 to 1946, and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the Purple Heart.
He was co-founder of Physicians for Automotive Safety, a member of both the American Medical Association and American Academy of Pediatrics, and a Master Mason belonging to Azure Masada Lodge #22 in Cranford.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jeanette Schwartz Constad; his son, William H. (Ann Beth) of Martinsville; his daughter, Bonnie Ann Constad of Parlin; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services were held Feb. 28 with arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to Healing the Children, NJ Chapter, 112 5th Ave., Hawthorne, NJ 07506.
