Alfred “Buddy” Bernard Strassman, 94, of Highland Park died June 12, 2016. He was born and raised in Elizabeth.
Mr. Strassman became proprietor of his family’s hardware store, J. Strassman and Sons, which was established by his grandfather in 1898. He sold the store to retire with his wife and travel the country in an RV.
He was a graduate of Brooklyn Polytech. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a supporter of Jewish War Veterans. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed photography.
Predeceased by his wife, Hildreth, he is survived by two daughters, Susan (Larry) Cohen of Mamaroneck, NY, and Rose (Phillip) Kandl of Mountainside; two sons, Kenneth (Barbara) of Highland Park and David of Modi’in, Israel; a brother, Jerome; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held with arrangements by Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Edison.
