Alfred Rosenthal
Alfred E. Rosenthal, MD, 94, of Bayonne died Oct. 11, 2014. Born in the Bronx, he lived in Bayonne since the age of six and also had a home in Lenox, Mass.
Dr. Rosenthal established a practice in internal medicine and cardiology in Bayonne from which he served for more than 40 years. He was president of the medical staff at Bayonne Hospital and served as a clinical professor.
He graduated from Bayonne High School at age 16, Johns Hopkins University in 1940, and New York University Medical School in 1944.
He served as a lieutenant in the Navy in World War II and the Korean War.
He served as president of the Bayonne Jewish Community Center and Bayonne Mental Health Center and headed Bayonne’s United Jewish Appeal.
Predeceased by his wife of more than 59 years, Ethel (Preminger), he is survived by two daughters, Lynn Rosenthal (Herb Fineburg) and Cathy (Marc) Frankel of Livingston; his son, David (Leslie) of South Orange; and six grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 12 with arrangements by Gutterman Bros. Funeral Directors. Memorial contributions may be made to CurePSP, American Macular Degeneration Foundation, or Bayonne Jewish Community Center.
