Abraham Young
Abraham Young, 93, of Ewing died Nov. 27, 2013. He was born in Trenton.
Mr. Young and his brother Herman were co-owners of the Veteran Meat Market and later, Mr. Magic Car Wash and The Public Meat Market until retiring in 1986.
He was a graduate of Bordentown Military Academy’s Class of 1938.
Commissioned a Second Lieutenant at the start of World War II, he graduated among one of the earliest classes of paratroopers, where he served as a 1st Lieutenant and Company Commander in the 13th, 17th, 82nd, and 101st airborne divisions for the duration of the war.
Predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Virdee Rainey; a son, Robert Joseph; and a son-in-law, Tom Tomaszewski, he is survived by three daughters, Betty Anne (Mike) of Bluffton, SC, Eleanor (Delvin) of Ellicott City, Md., and Georgetown, SC, and Gloria of Bluffton; a son, Rick (Debbie) of Lagrangeville, NY; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 3 with arrangements by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing. Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert Young Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o The Pennington School, 112 West Delaware Ave., Pennington, NJ 08534.
