Arnold Lasner

Arnold Lasner, 88, of Plainfield died Oct. 21, 2013.

Mr. Lasner was the retired owner of Sobel’s Ladieswear of Plainfield.

He was a graduate of Rutgers College.

He was a World War II Army veteran who received the Bronze Star for valor and the French Legion of Honor.

He was a Master Mason with the Theodore Roosevelt Lodge #627 of Elizabeth, a member of the 117th Calvary of Westfield, past president of the Queen City Federal Credit Union and the Plainfield Lodge of Brith Abraham/B’nai Zion, and past member of the board of directors, finance, and cemetery committees of Congregation Beth Israel, Scotch Plains.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Estelle; two sons, Andrew and Jay; a sister, Aline Sokler; and two grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 23 at Congregation Beth Israel with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Somerville.
